Select the Right Internal FME/Pipe Plugging Device for Your Application
When internal FME devices are needed, it's important to choose the right solution for the application. Factors such as temperature, pressure, pipe configuration, size, and project timeline all play a role. Whether you need controls for a high-temperature application, an air-filled bladder, a custom configuration, or a rapid turnaround, Alphasource has a solution to fit your needs.
Standard or Laminated Sponges are ideal for applications requiring custom sizing, unique configurations, or quick turnaround times. They offer a fast, effective alternative to inflatable pipe plugs (also known as bladders). Larger sponges include tether points for easy retrieval.
High Temperature Sponges are enclosed in a durable Nomex® pocket capable of withstanding temperatures up to approximately 500°F (260°C), making them suitable for demanding high-heat environments.
Inflatable Bladders/Pipe Plugs provide a complete seal and can also be tethered for retrieval. Nitrile bladders have an approximate shelf life of 4 years, while standard gum rubber bladders have a shelf life of 1 year. They are commonly paired with bladder pumps and pressure gauges for accurate inflation control. Standard lead times are typically 4–6 weeks, although select sizes are available from stock.
